Friday’s highly anticipated Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul boxing event streaming on Netflix faced criticism due to issues with video streaming quality, pixelation, stuttering, and crashes, as reported by users on social media. The problems started just before the main event, with tracking website downdetector.com showing over 88,700 reports of issues with Netflix’s website around 10:30 p.m. ET. While the fight between Tyson and Paul was estimated to begin at 11 p.m., undercard fighters were still competing, leading to frustration among viewers. The hashtags #NetflixFight, #buffering, and #netflixcrash trended on social media, with users sharing gifs of pixelated videos and joking about the streaming company’s IT department. Netflix had no immediate comment on the situation. Tyson, a former heavyweight champion, and Paul, a social media star turned boxer, were the main attractions of the event at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which had been postponed from July 20 due to Tyson’s ulcer flare-up in May. Despite the technical difficulties, the event drew attention and excitement from fans but left many disappointed with the streaming experience.
