Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs to stand trial for sex trafficking charges in May 2025

The federal trial of Sean “Diddy” Combs is set to begin on May 5 in New York. Combs faces charges of sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution, to which he has pleaded not guilty. The trial could last for about three weeks as the government presents its case against him, with the defense’s case expected to take about a week. Combs has been in jail since his arrest last September, with bail appeals being denied. The charges against Combs stem from allegations that he orchestrated and recorded coerced sex acts during gatherings known as “freak offs.” Combs has vehemently denied all allegations of sexual abuse, including those made by his former girlfriend Cassie Ventura. Lawsuits against him have been filed in New York City under the Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act, allowing complaints of sexual abuse even after the statute of limitations has passed. Combs’ defense team maintains his right to a speedy trial and plans to request a trial date in April or May 2025. The prosecution has indicated that there is a large amount of evidence in the case, including electronic material such as search warrants and reports on Combs’ iCloud accounts. If convicted, Combs faces a potential life sentence.
