Interstate 93 North in Bow, New Hampshire was closed for two hours on Tuesday due to a rollover crash involving a propane tanker. The crash occurred between the Hooksett Welcome Center and the I-89 on-ramp around 11:30 a.m. Two tractor-trailers collided, with one carrying propane, causing the tanker to overturn and leak propane. Both drivers sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. Police believe that speed was a factor in the crash, with one truck following the tanker closely.
A hazmat team responded to the scene to address the leaking propane. Traffic in the area backed up for miles, causing significant delays. The interstate was reopened at 1:35 p.m., but slowdowns persisted. State police Lt. Daniel Baldassarre stated that clearing the scene was challenging due to the involvement of chemicals and multiple accidents.
By 3 p.m., traffic had returned to normal flow. The cause of the crash is still under investigation. Authorities urge drivers to remain cautious and attentive while on the road to prevent similar incidents. Subscribe to WMUR’s YouTube channel or download the free app for updates on the go.
