Man from Maine Arrested for Wrong-Way Drunken Driving on I-95 in New Hampshire

Concord, NH – A man from Maine, Robert Cresta, 70, was arrested for wrong-way drunken driving on Interstate 95 in New Hampshire. New Hampshire State Police received reports about a driver driving erratically south in the northbound lane near the Hampton toll plaza. The driver, later identified as Cresta, crossed over the center median and began driving north in the southbound lane. Troopers attempted to stop Cresta using tire deflation devices and cruiser positioning, but he continued driving against traffic, causing minor collisions with two other vehicles. Cresta was arrested on reckless conduct, possession of a controlled substance, and aggravated driving while intoxicated charges. He was released on bail and is expected to appear in court on April 9. The state police were assisted by the Greenland Fire Department and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation. While impairment was a factor, the investigation is ongoing. Witnesses are asked to contact Sergeant Greg Dube at greg.c.dube@dos.nh.gov or State Police dispatch at 603-223-4381.
