Organization works to prepare New Hampshire children for physical activity

As the Boston Marathon approaches, a national nonprofit organization is working to inspire and motivate New Hampshire kids to get active and start running. The Healthy Kids Running Series has coordinators in nine different communities across the state, including Amherst, Concord, Dover, Litchfield, Manchester, Nashua, Peterborough, Plaistow, and Windham.

Dover coordinator Jessie Surette expressed how exciting it is to see kids progress throughout the season, gaining confidence and becoming more sure of themselves as they participate in the series. The season starts in the spring and provides kids with opportunities to stay active and engaged all year long.

The Healthy Kids Running Series website offers course maps, online registration, and volunteer opportunities for those interested in getting involved. The organization’s goal is to promote a healthy and active lifestyle among children in New Hampshire, inspiring them to get up and start running. With the Boston Marathon serving as a source of inspiration, the nonprofit aims to instill a love of running and physical activity in children from a young age.
