Boston College men’s hockey edges out New Hampshire in thrilling shootout victory


Boston College, ranked No. 1, played to a 1-1 tie against New Hampshire in a Hockey East matchup on Saturday. The Eagles secured the extra point in the standings with a shootout victory of 3-2, with Lukas Gustafsson scoring the deciding goal. Goalie Jacob Fowler made 41 saves, with Gabe Perreault scoring the lone goal for BC and Eamon Powell and Ryan Leonard recording assists. Boston College now has a record of 25-6-2 overall and 17-4-2 in Hockey East, while New Hampshire falls to 11-15-6 overall and 3-14-5 in league play.

After a scoreless overtime period, the game was decided in a shootout, with Gustafsson’s goal in the fifth round sealing the victory for Boston College. The Eagles faced a tough UNH offense throughout the game, but they managed to tie the score in the third period with a power play goal from Perreault.

The next game for Boston College will be against Merrimack, scheduled for next Saturday at 1 p.m. at Kelley Rink. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
