The Americus Police Department (APD) in Sumter County, Ga. has received a $20,000 technology grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety (GOHS). The grant will be used to upgrade the department’s laptops, which will be ruggedized and used for reporting traffic accidents to the state electronically. The GOHS Director, Allen Poole, emphasized the importance of preventing fatal traffic crashes and commended APD for their commitment to reducing injuries and deaths on the road.
Americus Chief of Police Mark Scott expressed the department’s appreciation for being selected for the grant and their dedication to enforcing traffic laws in high accident areas.
