Tropical Storm Sara made landfall in northern Honduras, threatening to bring torrential rains to Central America and southern Mexico. The storm hit near Brus Laguna, a village with few population centers nearby. Mexican authorities warned of intense rains in the Yucatan Peninsula. Sara had winds of 45 mph and was moving west, expected to head towards Belize. The storm was forecast to drop 10 to 20 inches of rain, with isolated areas getting up to 30 inches, causing potential flooding and landslides. Roatan, a popular tourist destination, was expected to be affected before the storm turned northwesterly towards Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula.
