Worker Seriously Injured in New Hampshire ‘Supermove’ Incident

Worker Injured During "Supermove" Equipment Transport in New Hampshire

HUDSON, N.H. — A serious incident occurred Tuesday night during a large-scale transportation operation, dubbed a "supermove," involving a colossal cold storage box measuring 18 feet in height and 136 feet in length. The operation aimed to transport this heavy equipment from Portsmouth to southern New Hampshire.

According to state police, the mishap happened when a utility worker in Greenland was adjusting overhead wires for the oversized load and accidentally made contact with a power line. The worker sustained severe electric shock and was urgently airlifted to a Boston hospital, where they are reported to be in critical condition. As of Thursday morning, there have been no further updates on the worker’s status.

Following the initial phase of the move, the cold storage unit was temporarily stored at a weigh station in Epping, positioned between Exits 7 and 8 on Route 101 West. A continuation of the journey occurred Wednesday night, with the equipment being transported to Route 111 in Hudson, its designated stop for this segment of the operation.

The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announced that the "supermove" would resume Thursday night, covering an additional 19 miles to reach its final destination in Brookline. The transportation of the heavy equipment has been contracted to Bay Crane Northeast, LLC, a Rhode Island-based company, though they declined to provide comments regarding the incident.

Additionally, a representative from the regional Occupational Safety and Health Administration confirmed that an investigation into potential workplace safety violations is underway, a process that may take up to six months to complete.
