Tragic Collision Claims Driver’s Life in Walpole, NH
WALPOLE, N.H. — A fatal accident occurred on Wednesday afternoon when a driver collided with a Fall Mountain Regional School District school bus on Route 12. The incident took place around 3:15 p.m. near Halls Crossing Road and Black Jack Crossing, according to local officials.
Authorities reported that a car traveling southbound crossed the center line, resulting in a head-on collision with the bus, which was en route from Keene. The driver of the car was pronounced dead at the scene, while the two students on board the bus sustained non-critical injuries and were transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
The bus driver was airlifted to a hospital to receive treatment for injuries sustained in the crash. The conditions of both the bus driver and the children are currently unknown but are believed to be stable.
In response to the accident, Route 12 was closed in both directions to facilitate emergency response and investigation efforts. The road was reopened by 5:30 p.m. after authorities completed their on-site assessment.
