Worker in Critical Condition After Accident During Equipment Transport in New Hampshire
GREENLAND, N.H. — A worker is in critical condition following a serious incident during the transport of a large piece of equipment known as a "super move" on Tuesday night. The New Hampshire State Police reported that the worker suffered life-threatening injuries after coming into contact with power lines while assisting with the transport of a massive 136-foot-long, 18-foot-tall cold storage box.
The accident occurred while crews from Bay Crane Northeast, LLC, a Rhode Island-based company contracted by the New Hampshire Department of Transportation, were maneuvering the oversized load. The worker inadvertently contacted a main power line while adjusting wires for the equipment to pass beneath. Following the accident, emergency medical teams were summoned, and the injured worker was air-lifted to a Boston hospital for urgent care.
Eversource was notified of the incident and dispatched crews to the site to repair the damaged conductors. The equipment had been temporarily secured at a weigh station in Epping, located between exits 7 and 8 on Route 101 West.
While Bay Crane Northeast declined to comment, inquiries have been made to the regional Occupational Safety and Health Administration office regarding the potential for an investigation into the incident.
Despite the unfortunate occurrence, New Hampshire DOT officials plan to proceed with the super move to Brookline on Wednesday night, utilizing several routes including Route 111, Route 3A, the Everett Turnpike North, Route 3, Route 130, and Route 13. The transport operations require extensive coordination and planning to safely move heavy machinery across the state.
