Ravi Menon has been appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors for the newly established Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS). The network aims to foster innovation and efficiency in financial ecosystems through global partnerships, with a focus on inclusivity and resilience.
In addition to Mr. Menon, Mr. Leong Sing Chiong and Mr. Neil Parekh have been appointed as Deputy Chairmen of GFTN. Mr. Sopnendu Mohanty, currently the Chief FinTech Officer at MAS, will take on the role of Group Chief Executive Officer for GFTN starting from February 1, 2025.
GFTN will focus on enhancing global connectivity for impactful innovation in financial services and strengthening Singapore’s position as a global FinTech hub. The network will have four strategic businesses, including forums, advisory services, digital platform services, and an investment fund for technology start-ups.
The Board of Directors of GFTN will be guided by an International Advisory Board comprising globally recognized leaders committed to the public interest. The details of the Board of Directors and the International Advisory Board will be announced at the Singapore FinTech Festival on November 6, 2024.
Mr. Menon expressed his vision for GFTN to drive synergies within the global finance and technology communities for innovations that create positive economic and social impact. Mr. Mohanty emphasized the network’s mission to address the evolving requirements of the global FinTech ecosystem through convening forums, advisory services, digital platforms, and capital integration.
GFTN aims to unlock sustainable and inclusive pathways for communities worldwide while strengthening Singapore’s role as a global FinTech hub.
