A federal judge in New Hampshire has declined to grant an immediate order allowing parents to wear pink wristbands with “XX” on them to protest transgender girls playing high school soccer games. Judge Steven McAuliffe ruled that one father banned from school grounds can watch his daughter’s games and pick her up from practice as long as he doesn’t engage in protest activity. The case arose after parents sued the school district for violating their rights when they were barred for wearing the wristbands, symbolizing the female chromosome pair. The parents wore the wristbands to silently express their opinion about the importance of reserving women’s sports for biological females. The school district contended that the parents directed their protest at a 15-year-old transgender player. The lawsuit also mentioned that two parents received bans from school events for showing their protest. The Institute for Free Speech, representing the parents, believes that police bodycam footage will support their version of events. The district did not provide immediate comment after the hearing. The next hearing is likely to be held in late November to address the complex legal nuances surrounding the case.
