A 17-year-old teenager in Arizona was indicted on terrorism charges for allegedly planning an attack on participants at the Phoenix Pride Festival. The teenager, who will be tried as an adult, is accused of acquiring materials to make an explosive device and discussing his plans in online chat rooms. The indictment also references other individuals involved in the conspiracy. The suspect’s motive for the planned attack was said to be to further the goals of the Islamic State group. He is currently being held on a $1 million cash-only bond. Maricopa County Attorney Rachel Mitchell commended investigators and law enforcement partners for their work in preventing a potential tragedy. It was not immediately clear if the suspect had retained an attorney.
