Kaur and her mother are originally from India, and efforts are being made to bring her father and brother from India to Canada. A community fundraiser organized by the Maritime Sikh Society has raised over $75,000 Canadian dollars to support the family. Walmart has temporarily closed the store and the Nova Scotia Department of Labour issued a stop-work order for the bakery and equipment at the store. A Walmart spokesperson expressed condolences for Kaur’s family and stated that their focus is on supporting their associates during this difficult time. The tragic incident has shocked the community and efforts are being made to provide support and assistance to the family in their time of need.
