Microsoft to launch new autonomous AI agents next month to compete with Salesforce

Microsoft is launching a feature within Copilot Studio that will allow businesses to create their own autonomous artificial intelligence agents, starting next month. These agents can perform tasks without supervision and blend seamlessly into daily operations. Additionally, Microsoft will introduce 10 new autonomous agents in Dynamics 365 for various teams. Jared Spataro, VP of Microsoft, demonstrated how AI agents can parse emails, find relevant information, and generate responses with significant time-saving benefits.

This move by Microsoft comes as competition in the AI space is intensifying, with Salesforce introducing its own AI platform called Agentforce last month. Salesforce’s CEO, Zahra Bahrololoumi, criticized the copilot model of AI assistants, suggesting they are not as connected to customer data and may not represent companies accurately. Both Microsoft and Salesforce are investing heavily in AI tools for enterprises, aiming to improve productivity and efficiency.

In addition to these developments, Microsoft announced a five-year deal with the UK government to provide public sector organizations access to its AI tools. Through this agreement, public sector organizations can leverage Microsoft 365 Copilot, a generative AI embedded in productivity apps, as well as other Microsoft productivity and cloud services. This partnership highlights the increasing use of AI technology in various sectors to streamline operations and enhance decision-making processes.
