Fresh clashes have erupted in southern Lebanon, with the Israeli military engaging in heavy fighting against Hezbollah. Reports indicate that Israeli artillery units are firing towards Lebanon from northern Israel. Earlier, Hezbollah forces reportedly repelled Israeli forces attempting to infiltrate the Lebanese town of Adaisseh. Air raid alerts have been issued in northern Israel, and residents in southern Lebanon are being urged to evacuate in order to avoid potential attacks.
In response to the escalating conflict, airlines have suspended flights to the region, and airspace restrictions have been implemented in parts of the Middle East. The situation has also prompted US Defence Secretary Lloyd Austin to condemn Iran’s missile attack on Israel as an “outrageous act of aggression.”
Meanwhile, reports suggest that Israel will launch a significant retaliation against Iran in the coming days, potentially targeting oil production facilities. The Iranian missile attack on Israel, which involved more than 180 ballistic missiles, resulted in little damage in Israel, but one person was killed in the occupied West Bank. The attack prompted US destroyers in the eastern Mediterranean Sea to intercept Iranian missiles.
The ongoing conflict has also spilled over into a vice-presidential debate in the United States, with candidates discussing the current situation in the Middle East. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has issued strong words against Iran, warning that the regime will pay for its actions. As tensions continue to rise, the international community remains on edge, with the potential for the conflict to escalate further.
