The Secret Service is increasing security around former President Donald Trump after an apparent assassination attempt in September and a recent incident at his golf course in Florida. Ryan Wesley Routh, a convicted felon, was charged in connection with the September assassination attempt and appeared in court on Monday. Routh dropped off a letter declaring his failed attempt on Trump’s life before being arrested. The Secret Service is increasing protection for Trump, with visible measures such as agents following closely behind him during public appearances. Trump plans to return to Butler, Pennsylvania, for a campaign rally in October, while the House unanimously voted to enhance protection for all presidential candidates to the same level as presidents. The bill would ensure increased security for all future candidates running for office.
