Australia suffered a blow as both Labuschagne and Green were dismissed in quick succession during the third ODI against England. Labuschagne was caught by Smith off Jacks for a duck, while Green was caught by Jacks off Bethell for 42. This left Australia at 132-4.
The partnership between Smith and Green was starting to flourish as they reached the halfway mark. Carse looked much more accurate and comfortable on his home ground, finishing with just 29 runs from his seven overs.
Rashid struggled with control in the nippy conditions, conceding two boundaries. Smith and Green were finding the gaps and running decisively, with the partnership close to reaching fifty.
Marsh hit a six off Carse but was subsequently bowled out by the same bowler. Short was caught by Rashid off Archer after hitting a six the previous ball.
England won the toss and chose to bowl first, with Archer replacing Stone in the bowling attack. Australia were missing Zampa, while England’s Topley was also unwell and set to miss the rest of the series.
England, down 2-0 in the series, needed a victory or big performances to avoid letting losing become a habit. The match was set to begin at 12:30pm local time in Durham.
