Osavul, a Ukrainian media intelligence organization founded in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, has recently received a 3 million dollar investment from European investors. Co-founder Dmytro Bilash explains how they use artificial intelligence to combat disinformation, adapting their tactics to different audiences. With headquarters in the US and 28 specialists worldwide, Osavul collects and analyzes data to identify key narratives and sources of misinformation. Bilash spoke to Euronews about the rise of Russian disinformation in Germany, highlighting the importance of recognizing fake news and supporting good journalism. In Ukraine, Russian propaganda focuses on exaggerating military victories to disrupt unity and destabilize the population. Bilash also points out common strategies used by Russia, such as creating “information alibis” to justify attacks. Osavul’s work aims to provide decision-makers with accurate information to combat this modern threat of disinformation. The company’s success in exposing and debunking fake news demonstrates the importance of vigilance and critical thinking in today’s digital age.
