Independent candidate Robert F Kennedy Jr is set to give a speech about the “path forward” in Phoenix, Arizona on Friday. Reports indicate that Kennedy is planning to drop out of the presidential race and endorse Republican Party nominee Donald Trump. This endorsement could potentially boost Trump’s chances in battleground states that were won by slim margins in previous elections.
Kennedy, known for his environmental advocacy and vaccine skepticism, has been drawing more support from Trump than from the Democratic nominee, Vice President Kamala Harris. Polls have shown that Kennedy has more favorable ratings among registered Republican voters compared to Democrats and independents.
Although Kennedy’s campaign never posed a significant challenge to Harris or Trump, it did attract double-digit support in polling at its peak. However, recent polls have indicated a decline in his support, with only about 5 percent of voters backing him.
