With five rounds left in this summer’s County Championship, the season is set to end on September 29th. Points are crucial in the competition, and good luck was extended to students awaiting their GCSE results. Unfortunately, there is no broadcast deal in place for England men’s autumn Test series against Pakistan.
In Division One, Surrey sits at the top of the table with 157 points, followed by Somerset with 134 points. Hampshire, Essex, Durham, Nottinghamshire, Lancashire, Warwickshire, Worcestershire, and Kent complete the division. In Division Two, Sussex leads with 150 points, followed by Middlesex, Yorkshire, Leicestershire, Glamorgan, Gloucestershire, Northants, and Derbyshire.
The Championship makes a return after the dominance of the Hundred and One-Day Cup, with exciting fixtures lined up. Sixteen-year-old Rocky Flintoff is set to make his Lancashire Championship debut, while Jonny Bairstow, Jordan Cox, and Olly Stone have opportunities to prove themselves and potentially earn a tour place.
As red ball cricket returns for its final late summer/early autumn stretch, teams in both divisions are gearing up for key matchups. The fixtures include Worcestershire v Kent, Warwickshire v Somerset, Surrey v Lancashire, Hampshire v Essex, Durham v Nottinghamshire, Middlesex v Northamptonshire, Yorkshire v Sussex, Derbyshire v Glamorgan, Gloucestershire v Leicestershire.
