Doctor accused of secretly recording women and children in hospital via hidden cameras

Dr. Oumair Aejaz, a Detroit-area doctor, has been charged with using hidden cameras to secretly film women and children in hospital settings over a six-year period. He recorded children as young as two and women recovering from operations in various hospital rooms, as well as in changing rooms, closets, bathrooms, and bedrooms. Aejaz faces 10 charges, including sexual abuse of a child and creating child sexual abuse material. The number of victims is unknown, but authorities believe there are many. Sheriff Michael Bouchard described the case as one of the most disturbing he has seen in his career, and hopes Aejaz will be held fully accountable for his actions. Aejaz had privileges at two hospitals, Henry Ford Macomb Hospital and Ascension Genesys Hospital, and both hospitals are cooperating with the investigation. Detectives seized computers, cell phones, and external storage devices from Aejaz’s home, finding 13,000 videos dating back six years. This evidence indicates a lengthy history of criminal activity. Aejaz’s wife reportedly tipped off police about his behavior. Aejaz is originally from India and had been working in the United States since 2011. The investigation may extend beyond Genesee and Macomb Counties to other states or countries. Victims are encouraged to contact the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
